JOB SUMMARYWorks closely with members of the HR team in delivering an effective service provision across the Toro Group of companies. Actively engages and collaborates with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and levels of support needed and provides a proactive and responsive approach by delivering on commitments made in a timely manner.DIRECT AND INDIRECT REPORTSNoneMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIESHealth & Safety:
- Works in compliance with the Health & Safety Act and regulations and reports any known workplace hazards, incidents or violations in line with internal policy and procedure.
Technical / Function-Specific:
- Acts as the HR first point of contact for all employees in the client group.
- Provides support during the employee lifecycle including supporting managers with interviews, onboarding, attendance management, training, employee relations, investigations, progressive discipline, maternity/paternity, vacation and time off management, benefits and offboarding.
- Participates in the development and implementation of effective programs in all key areas of Human Resources including employee/labour relations, engagement & retention, learning and talent acquisition.
- Promotes positive working relations in a multi-site environment by undertaking plant/site visits, answering employee inquiries, researching issues, and escalating matters to the HR Business Partner as needed.
- Works closely with the HR Business Partner in supporting and servicing the client group.
- Provides advice and coaching to employees and supervisors on the application of policies, HR programs and related employment laws and where appropriate seeks external assistance on such matters working closely with external agencies (e.g. Benefits provider, Legal advisors)
- Liaises with employees and provides timely responses and action to their inquiries.
- Supports the HR team in continuous improvement activities and the rolling out and execution of business wide HR projects.
- Supports the Talent Acquisition team on various recruitment initiatives.
- Acts as an ambassador for the organization’s values.
- Works on other tasks and special projects as required.
Internal / External Customer Service:
- Communicates on a regular basis with employees and members of the management team to better understand requirements/issues and takes prompt action to complete tasks on time.
- Works with and involves other central functions, e.g., Health and Safety where it is necessary to seek their input and guidance in addressing common areas of interest e.g., an H&S/HR related matter.
Administration:
- Administers Toro’s HCMS (Dayforce), ensuring employee information and changes are kept up to date.
- Ensures files are kept up to date on the shared drive and in the electronic personnel files.
- Tracks, reports and works to improve HR metrics that drive the success of the business and the HR team.
- Sources information to be incorporated into Group or Company specific communications such as company announcements, memos, program updates and town halls.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY OPERATE IN THE ROLEEducation:
- University degree or college certificate in Human Resources or related field ideally.
- CHRP/CHRL designation or working towards designation.
- Good Standard of education.
Experience:
- 4+ years of experience in Human Resources.
- 2-5 years labour relations experience (Exposure to union environment is required)
- Experience working in a multi-site manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Handling disciplinary and grievance matters.
- Interpreting and advising on HR policy and procedures.
- Developing positive working relations with others.
- Using Microsoft Office.
