Context

• The website project for Vision GRAM-International is being developed to support the organization’s mission of promoting peace, human rights, and conflict prevention, particularly focusing on vulnerable populations such as women, children, and youth affected by war, specifically in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The website will act as a central hub for information, advocacy, fundraising, and engagement with both local and international communities.
• Vision GRAM-International has been active in raising awareness about issues like the use of child soldiers, gender-based violence, and the role of youth in conflict, while also providing real-life solutions through capacity building and direct interventions. The website will enhance this mission by making it easier to communicate these efforts to a global audience, including donors, partners, volunteers, and the general public
• The website is echoes with SDG 17. It will facilitate the creation of partnerships with international organizations, NGOs,and donors, thus strengthening international cooperation for peace and human rights. By mobilizing resources and fostering collaboration, it will help build both local and international capacities to achieve the established goals, and ensure the effectiveness, efficiency and smooth operation of this website.

Task description

We need support from Online Volunteers, 1. to create, and to modify features depending on discussions with the team. 2) The other online volunteer, with skills in programming, will support with maintaining the VGI social media platform connected to the website. The tasks are distributed below.

• 2 online volunteers to test, update and maintain the VGI website and social medias platform. Their tasks will be varied and crucial to ensure the smooth operation and continuous updating of the website.
• Main website: Social media and Content Management Support
• Create and update textual, visual, and multimedia content (2 or 3 articles per week, testimonials, photos, videos (2 to 5 minutes max) from partner’s websites or other related articles about VGI’s area of action.
• Write 2 or 3 blog posts and news articles per week from VGI and other websites from Partners or organizations working in the same area to keep the public informed about activities and projects.
• Verify the accuracy and relevance of the information published.
• Recommend/create content for social media that directs traffic to the site and engages the audience
• Website Management and Development (1 Volunteer)
• Integrate and manage links to social media to promote website content.
• Train other team members on how to use the site and update content and provide technical support to internal users in case of site-related issues.

Requirements

Required experience

Based on the assignment, candidates should ideally have the following skills:

For main website maintenance: a) Good knowledge of JavaScript development and NodeJS frameworks as well as HTML5.

For social medis platform update:

• WordPress Administration and Optimization (Tuning)
• Highly experienced with creating WordPress landing pages using Gutenberg Editor (WordPress Block Editor) as well as Elementor
• Knowledge of WordPress plugin development with PHP and/or MySQL is a plus.
