The Central Support and Tracing Hub use their operational expertise to resolve complex queries and provide support to the wider business. The Absconder Tracing Team form part of the hub who deal with immigration absconders who have failed to comply with conditions of Immigration bail, temporary admission, have absconded from port or have escaped from Immigration detention. This multi-faceted role will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to expand their administrative experience.

Job description

The post holder will be supporting the work of the wider tracing teams to undertake batch checks following strategic direction and priorities, reviewing cases deemed as “out of contact”. The management and review of these will be required to bring a person back into a compliant regime to progress cases. This will require an enthusiastic and driven individual to help us deliver on our ambitious programme of work.

The Central Support and Tracing Hub offer a flexible resourcing model therefore individuals may be required to undertake additional tasks. Staff must be willing to adapt and proactively develop their role to support other work in the team. This will be considered according to business priorities, the individual’s competencies, skills and availability. 

Key responsibilities

  • Working closely with team to undertake batch checks of data to maintain accurate absconder records
  • Interrogating Home Office systems, to ensure cases fit the absconder criteria and to perform checks on internal systems and databases for traces of a person where required
  • Using Home Office systems to manage “Absconder” cases as necessary, working closely across the team
  • Supporting with development of Business Rules around absconder cases
  • Adopting, integrating and working with the transformation from the current Home Office systems to the new Atlas Case Working system. Updating accurately Home Office systems and workflow tools
  • Monitoring and distributing emails from the team inbox as necessary and progress ad hoc work from monthly reports
  • Acting readily on feedback in a positive and responsive way, working closely with peers and colleagues to promote an inclusive environment
  • Promoting effective individual and team performance through ongoing learning and reflection on your own Personal Development needs

Working pattern

This role is available on a full-time basis. This role is also suitable for part-time working hours, with a minimum requirement to work 30 hours per week due to business requirements.

Person specification

Essential criteria

The post holder should demonstrate experience of:

  • Working with/analysing information with the ability to identify trends and highlight risks
  • Good communication skills both orally and in writing to internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills along with high standards of attention to detail
  • Experience of working in a high profile, fast paced environment
  • An awareness of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) policies and processes

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of customer service or operational casework environment
