By pursuing his/her own scientific interests, the candidate is expected to enrich and strengthen on-going translational research efforts in neurodegenerative diseases, aging, addiction, diabetes, and neuromodulation interventions at the University of Minnesota, and eventually lead programmatic efforts for addressing inter-disciplinary research questions. Responsibilities will include leading of an independent research agenda with external research funding, interaction with collaborators, mentoring of students and faculty members, service activities to the CMRR and the University of Minnesota, and pursuit of research and other scholarly activities. Qualifications Required * PhD in chemistry * Established MR scientist with track record in Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) innovations and applications * Established records of translational and collaborative research * Experience working at ultra-high magnetic fields (7 Tesla and/or higher) * Proven sustained success in obtaining extramural funding * Demonstrated ability to conduct collaborative research * Proven leadership and communication skills Preferred: * Track record of accomplishments in the fields of Magnetic Resonance applied to study biomedical problems in humans and intact animal models * Specific interests in 1H spectroscopy techniques and applications About the Department The Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (CMRR) in the Department of Radiology at the University of Minnesota is seeking to fill a tenure full professor position to lead a broad research agenda of innovations and collaborative efforts for advancing novel MRI contrast, functional MRI and functional MRS applications at ultra-high field in both human and animal models. The successful candidate will bring distinct expertise in developing and utilizing 1H spectroscopy techniques on both humans and non-human animal models to investigate biomedical problems with particular emphasis on applications to aging and various brain diseases such as neurodegenerative diseases (e.g. Alzheimer’s), dystonia, depression, and brain tumors. The successful candidate will also bring expertise in the development and assessment of non-invasive MRI methods for discovery of quantitative biomarkers for clinical research and clinical practice. The faculty member is also expected to lead MRS and MRI innovations for use as outcome measures for detecting disease modifications.
