The platform includes the Core Banking System and Vault Banking Products labs who support the run and change needed to operate all current account and savings account products for the LBG brands, product APIs, transaction and statement services that are needed for channel and customer interactions.Our mission is to build the bank of the future, and we need your help to do it! We have an opening for a Software Engineer for the Core Banking System team (CBS) which is a flexible and multi skilled team based in central Manchester. Our purpose is to provide market leading customer experience through the servicing of PCA and Savings accounts via multiple channels, including digital for 30 million customers and 61 million accounts.What will I be doing?Collaborative working with a small team of engineers delivering and testing change on CBSWorking with the Lab Engineering Lead to understand the strategic direction for the application, ensuring it remains viable and resilient and aligns to agreed architectural principlesCoaching and mentoring the engineers to uplift overall capability and build skills for the futureBuilding relationships across the bank and being comfortable working in an agile environment to deliver customer driven solutions and high quality softwareWhy Lloyds Banking GroupFrom building a truly sustainable business to creating a place where people love to work, we need colleagues who are up for the challenge of our bold ambitions. Together, we can grow with purpose.What you’ll needGood understanding of design and build activities across the lifecycle – unit testing, system testing and integration testingExperience in development & testing on Unisys Mainframe, COBOL, C, JCLTesting experience (manual or automated) including writing test scripts, performing code reviews and production / review of user documentationWork with the deployment team to roll out new changes and support them when required in triaging production issuesReviewing design proposals, acceptance criteria and processes, and recommend improvements.Investigating user problems referred to you by the Product teams, testing defect fixes, and creating and managing defect reportsParticipation in the agile process to produce more rapid delivery, supporting projects and programmes across the organisationMentoring and development of more junior engineers, providing clear and constructive feedback and building opportunities for learning and growthExperience with Software Engineering collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence etc.Understanding of CI/CD methodology and tools such as JenkinsExperience of resolution of live production incidentsOur focus is to ensure we’re inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms.We want our people to feel that they belong and can be their best, regardless of background, identity or culture.We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer initiative.And it’s why we especially welcome applications from underrepresented groups.We’re disability confident.
