Postdoctoral positions to work at the interfaces among cancer biology, immunology, molecular epidemiology and translational therapeutics for HPV-related head and neck cancer are available for early 2025. An interdisciplinary mentorship team for these positions will include multiple basic, translational, and clinical researchers who comprise an emerging Translational Center of Excellence within the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania, described here:
Trainees will have opportunities to lead projects with high clinical impact on the following topics:
(1) Mechanisms by which differences in viral gene expression among HPV+ cancers impact therapy responses.
(2) Novel targeted therapies that promote both direct and immune-mediated clearance of HPV+ cancers.
(3) Developing molecular biomarkers for HPV-related cancer from molecular, radiomic, and histologic analyses
PhD training in cancer biology, immunology, virology, cellular metabolism, stem cell biology, and/or genetics is required. Training in data science and bioinformatics is also viewed as highly desirable. Applicants with doctoral degrees from major US, Canadian, or European institutions are encouraged to apply. Positions will be supported by NIH and private foundation funding as well as growing philanthropic support.
