Summary/Objective:  

Under broad supervision, responsible for assessing, planning, and/or coordinating training sessions for an agency. Performs end-to-end learning and development. Evaluates training and learning outcomes in relation to functional and/or technical training activities. 

Essential Functions:

  • As a team member or individually, participates in the development of conferences, instructive seminars, presentations and speeches for community and civic organizations and the general public. 
  • Develops and maintains VR training manuals for employees. 
  • Identifies training needs, providing guidance and training to customers or less experienced staff. 
  • Creates, develops, and maintains content for GVRA’s Learning Management System (LMS), editing as needed. 
  • Oversees the development and completion of LMS assignments. 
  • Produces videos, pictures, and photographs for training, marketing, and presentations. 
  • Provides related services such as scheduling of training, maintaining records, bidding out contract work, and setting up/checking equipment. 
  • Serves as a resource in the development and implementation of outreach communication. 
  • Coordinates statewide training and onboarding for VR employees. 
  • Maintain statewide training tracker (e.g., VR, GVRA, RSA). 
  • Trains subordinate staff in proper procedures of day-to-day operations 
  • Hosts training office hours with field staff. 
  • Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Preferred Education and Experience: 

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the required education and experience, possess one or more of the following: 

  • Experience in delivering and developing training related to vocational rehabilitation service delivery.
  • Training and competency in working with individuals with disabilities.
  • 2 years’ experience as a vocational rehabilitation counselor.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and LMS systems.

Work Environment: 

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones. 

Physical Demands: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

Working Conditions: 

Incumbents working in this job perform duties in an office setting. This is a 40-hour workweek requirement. The position may involve managing a high-volume workload and demands a high level of accuracy while working with deadlines. Regular attendance is an important part of being successful in this position. Reasonable accommodations can be made available to qualified individuals upon request. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work. 

Travel: 

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of experience providing educational, training or instructional services in functional area; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Training & Dev Spec 2 (GSP121).
