General Mechanic

Summary

The General Mechanic has to perform general maintenance of all areas, most of the time on technical systems and is a specialist in one of the technical proficiency. The General Mechanic works proactively as a member of the maintenance team to resolve hotel maintenance issues while maintaining and improving the quality of the facilities. 

Job requirements include but are not limited to the following:

• Cleaning and maintaining water features.
• Cleaning and maintaining indoor/outdoor areas.
• Painting walls, ceilings, floors and other surfaces.
• Operate electrical and mechanical systems.
• Energy conversation – to observe energy and utility usage in the hotel and on the grounds.

Qualifications

• Technical school and/or courses.
• Full knowledge of plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Carpentry & finish skills.
• HVAC.
• Must have a positive attitude and be able to interact well with guests and colleagues.
• Previous hotel or similar maintenance experience.
• Ability to demonstrate proficiency in all essential job functions is preferred.
• Will be regularly required to walk, occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, and kneel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Spanish and Papiamento preferred. 
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. 
• Availability for emergency purposes. 
• Lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
