The Corporate Impact function of The Cigna Group is responsible for the development and execution of the enterprise’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) and inclusion strategies to transform the health ecosystem into one that is well-functioning, sustainable, accessible, and equitable for all. 

The Corporate Impact Disclosure Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating reporting disclosure and data collection activities related to regulatory, environmental and workforce data. A critical focus of this role will be supporting efforts for the EU CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive). This role will work closely with various stakeholders, including accountants, real estate professionals, HR professionals and other subject matter experts to ensure accurate, enhanced, assurance-ready and timely data collection and validation. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Support new data collection initiatives for Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Act as a primary data provider using the Workiva platform and liaise with the Accounting team for data collection processes, data validation and assurance efforts.
  • Manage the greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and support the achievement of water and waste goals, which will involve coordination with real estate professionals to gather necessary data.
  • Collaborate with HR professionals to determine data collection methodologies and ways to extract data from workforce management system (Workday). Utilize Workday to gather workforce, talent and inclusion data and programming.
  • Assist in drafting narratives and disclosures.
  • Support overall project management responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field(s)
  • 3+ years of experience in ESG data collection, data validation, and/or data management, during which the knowledge, skills and abilities applicable to the position were demonstrated
  • MBA or master’s degree in related field preferred
  • Prior experience with carbon accounting, Workday and/or Workiva solutions is a plus
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills in a dynamic and complex environment, meeting deadlines and successfully managing the daily workload
  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise narratives
  • Attentiveness to stakeholder management, including success in building relationships across levels and functional groups, along with ability to work effectively with others in a cooperative manner to accomplish work and participate in team efforts
  • Basic understanding of voluntary ESG reporting standards and frameworks such as Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), CDP, GHG Protocol, and exposure to DJSI, MSCI, ISS, and Sustainalytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Strong critical thinking skills, ability to connect reporting and data collection efforts back to overall strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Suite to produce quality written communications, including PowerPoint presentations and advanced functions of Excel
  • Ideally, experience with Big 4 consultancy firm and/or experience with both ESG and assurance/controls
