The Senior Manager of Credit and Collections is responsible for leading and managing the credit and collections team to optimize the company’s cash flow, minimize credit risk, and maintain positive relationships with clients. This role involves strategic planning, team leadership, process improvement, and collaboration with various departments to ensure efficient and effective credit and collection operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of credit and collections professionals fostering a positive and collaborative team environment that encourages professional growth.
- Set performance goals and provide regular feedback and evaluations.
- Advance the Altium culture and Guiding Principles.
- Ensure incentives are aligned with company goals and objectives.
Credit Risk Management:
- Develop and implement credit policies and procedures to effectively manage risk while balancing customer growth and company strategy.
- Analyze credit data and financial statements to assess creditworthiness.
- Approve or deny credit applications based on established criteria.
- Proactively engage with sales on upcoming and ongoing negotiations to effectively manage customer expectations and company risk.
Collections Strategy:
- Design and implement effective collection strategies to ensure timely receipt of payments.
- Monitor accounts receivable and take proactive measures to reduce delinquency rates including monitoring accounts receivable aging.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve disputes and improve customer relationships.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously assess and improve credit and collections processes to enhance efficiency.
- Utilize technology and software tools to streamline operations and reporting.
- Implement best practices and industry standards in credit and collections management.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and present regular reports on credit and collections performance to Senior Leadership, identifying areas for improvement, escalate where help is needed, and propose potential solutions.
- Establish metrics that lead to profitable action and analyze data trends and metrics.
- Hold credit and collections team accountable to those metrics.
- Support Company’s borrowing base reporting and related audits.
Compliance and Risk Mitigation:
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Stay informed about industry developments and changes in regulations.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to translate financial information into sound business language to drive business decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and trust and support the team.
- Commitment to value creation and ability to solve problems in a collaborative manner.
- Ability and desire to take on a variety of projects and prioritize competing priorities as dictated by business needs and strategy.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or relevant certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in credit and collections, with at least 3 years in a managerial/supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of credit risk assessment, collections strategies, and financial analysis.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP systems is preferred.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with diverse teams.
