PSE’sOffice of Controllerteam is looking for qualified candidates to fill anopenSenior Payroll Analystposition!
Specific details regarding the work arrangements for this position will be discussed in further detail during the interview process.
Performs complex payroll accounting and analysis functions with minimal supervision. Responsible for end-to-end payroll and accounting processes. Ensures accuracy of payroll and financial records while maintaining compliance with SOX controls and regulatory requirements. Drives continual process improvements and provides guidance and training on payroll-related matters to staff and others throughout PSE.
Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.
Demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically, and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.
- Payroll Processing: Processes regular and off-cycle payroll runs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local laws and company policies.
- Data Reconciliation and Validation: Reviews and verifies the accuracy of payroll data, reconciles payroll reports and general ledger accounts, and makes necessary adjustments.
- Tax and Compliance: Manages and ensures accurate filing of all federal, state, and local payroll tax reports, including quarterly and year-end filings.
- Benefit and Deduction Management: Oversees the processing and reconciliation of benefit deductions, garnishments, and retirement contributions.
- Process Improvement: Identifies process inefficiencies and champion process improvements to enhance accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Team Support and Training: Acts as subject matter expert to provide training and support to other payroll staff, management, and employees regarding payroll and standard operating procedures.
- Reporting: Populates, analyzes, and summarizes various payroll reports for management and external agencies.
- Audit Support: Functions as department liaison for internal and external auditor requests.
- Company & Industry Acumen: Consistently applies industry knowledge when developing analyses and improvements; understands who the key stakeholders are and circulates findings accordingly; leverages knowledge to drive cross-functional solutions.
- Collaboration: Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to achieve business objectives and leads projects to completion with the appropriate amount of urgency.
- Customer Focus: Articulates customer needs and works collaboratively to exceed expectations and improve the customer experience.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Three (3) years of relevant experience in accounting (specifically payroll, benefits, or related areas).
- Demonstrated experience with SAP and/or other HR/Payroll integrated systems with emphasis on full-cycle in-house payroll processing.
- Ability to interpret federal and state payroll laws to ensure compliance.
- Strong understanding of payroll processing, GAAP, and technical Application
- Strong verbal and written skills.
- Ability to think creatively and solve problems.
- Proficient computer skills (including Excel, Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Visio).
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)/ Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
- Experience working in the utilities and/or energy industry.
- Experience with SAP, SuccessFactors, and Tax Filling.
- Leadership, mentorship, and coaching skills.

The pay range for this position is$79,200.00-$131,700.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
