DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, performs waived, moderate, and high complexity testing; evaluates test results; performs and evaluates quality control procedures; performs preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting. Provides laboratory services in a timely manner and consistently delivers excellent customer service. Serves as a technical resource for customers and other staff. Adheres to all safety policies. Performs other related CLS functions as required.

The Rapid Response Lab provides services to Jacobs Medical Center, Moore’s Cancer, and other outpatient areas. A CLS performs patient testing and works in subspecialty areas of the laboratory – Hematology, Coagulation, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Blood Gas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or appropriate sub-specialty license issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health.

  • Graduation from college with a major in a relevant field.

  • Strong math skills.

  • Manual dexterity.

  • Demonstrated ability in teaching, critical thinking and problem solving.

  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties assigned to the position.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Degree in Medical Technology from an NAACLS accredited MT program.
  • Recent experience in a Stem Cell Processing, Blood Bank, Hematology Laboratory, or similar environment.
  • Generalist Clinical lab experience
  • At least two years of applicable clinical laboratory experience.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, overtime, and at various locations as necessary in accordance with operational needs.
  • Must be able to participate in the SCPL weekend work/on-call and holiday coverage rotation.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $103,795 – $137,098 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $49.71 – $65.66

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
