For every child, the right to Protection! 

Considering the high demand from donors for visibility and promotion of the interventions and activities in the field, as well as the lack of internal capacities on photography services, there is a need for external (consultant) professional photographer. The consultant under the guidance of Partnerships and Communication officer, will develop all professional photos as per UNICEF and the donor requirements. 

How can you make a difference? 

To capture high-quality images that effectively document UNICEF Kosovo’s programs, support advocacy, and communicate impact. In line with UNICEF’s communication and public advocacy strategy, the consultant will provide high-quality and creative photographs to support the documentation, communication and advocacy needs of the UNICEF Kosovo Programme Office. 

The key deliverables would be the following: 

  • Take high-resolution photographs (minimum resolution of 2000 x 3000 pixels: 6 mega pixels with zero compression in JPEG and/or PNG formats), according to UNICEF photography guidelines.
  • Provide captions with locations and names for photos depicting 1-2 persons and small groups that don’t fall under the category of “mass.” Date when a photo is captured, and other relevant information should also be provided. All information, including the complete name of photographer, should be embedded in the metadata.
  • Select the best photos related to each task (minimum of 15 and maximum of 30) in consultation with the Communications team.
  • Photographs will be provided in raw format and optimized resolution via a file transfer service or an external memory medium.
  • Photographs must be provided in high quality, suitable for printing, processing, or publishing.
  • Obtain consent forms with complete information and duly signed by children’s guardians and stakeholders

Responsibilities of the Consultant:  

  • The Consultant shall ensure that all required consent forms, releases, and permissions are obtained, properly documented, and submitted in accordance with UNICEF policies.

  • The Consultant shall ensure that all photo files are delivered with correct labeling, captions, and embedded metadata as specified by UNICEF. 

  • The Consultant shall maintain confidentiality and data protection standards in handling images and personal information, in line with UNICEF data protection and child safeguarding policies. 

 Responsibilities of UNICEF:  

  • Providing Guidance and Templates 
  • UNICEF shall provide the Consultant with standardized consent forms, release forms, and permissions of templates that comply with UNICEF policies and child safeguarding standards. 

  • UNICEF shall review submitted photographs to ensure compliance with labeling, captions, metadata standards, and visual guidelines. 

  • UNICEF shall ensure that all approved consent forms and photographic data are securely stored and maintained in line with organizational policies. 

  • UNICEF shall ensure proper archiving and retrieval systems for photographic assets and associated metadata.

The duration of the LTA will be for three years.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

  • Completion of university degree in Fine Arts (BFA) in Photography, Visual Arts or related field. 

  • Proven ability in photography and ability to assimilate and communicate complex visual messages in an engaging and user-friendly manner. 

  • Advanced knowledge and skills of MS Office, including Adobe Suites and other editing tools is required. 

  • At least four (4) years of professional photography documentation, processing and editing photos; 

  • Previous experience working with UN / INGO sector; 

  • Knowledgeable on ethical journalism & photography; 

  • Willingness to travel and be assigned in emergency mission around the Kosovo

  • Knowledge of English is a must.

What to submit for the application – The application to be submitted through the online portal should contain separate attachments: 

  • A Cover letter explaining the motivation for applying and explaining how the qualifications and skillset of the candidate (to be uploaded online)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) (to be uploaded online)  
  • A photographer’s portfolio – should include a curated selection of previous and current engagement, showing who the work was for and featuring photos that capture action, emotions, and the faces of people, demonstrating the photographer’s ability to tell a story visually. It should be professionally organized, visually cohesive, and indicate the tools and equipment used.
