We are seeking a 3rd Shift Transportation Supervisor in Middletown, CT to oversee drivers and transportation operations to ensure safe, timely, and efficient deliveries. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and compliance management skills to maintain smooth overnight operations.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Management
*
Monitor driver departure times to ensure on-time performance.
*
Supervise, coach, and evaluate drivers and support staff.
*
Conduct performance reviews and administer corrective action when necessary.
*
Train employees on safe driving practices, company policies, and procedures.
Operations Execution
*
Provide dispatch services and maintain clear, consistent communication with drivers.
*
Ensure on-time deliveries and optimize route and equipment utilization.
*
Collaborate with warehouse and operations teams to resolve service issues.
Safety & Compliance
*
Enforce company policies and DOT transportation regulations.
*
Monitor adherence to safety standards and internal compliance rules.
*
Oversee vehicle inspections and coordinate preventive maintenance schedules.
Administrative Duties
*
Maintain accurate records including driver schedules, accident reports, and compliance logs.
*
Prepare operational reports and support data analysis to improve efficiency.
*
Respond to road calls, breakdowns, and incidents to ensure minimal disruption to service.
Essential Skills & Knowledge

Leadership: Ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.

Communication: Strong verbal and written skills across all levels.

Technical Proficiency: Skilled in transportation management systems and related software.

Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of DOT and transportation compliance.
