TITLE: Slitter Operator C

position OBJECTIVE: To ensure production of consistent-quality products meeting all customer and internal quality requirements while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exhibit safe work habits, including ensuring equipment is in safe working condition and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to the Senior Lead
  • Follow Lock-Out/ Tag-Out procedures when necessary
  • Identify quality defects on slit reels
  • Locate and utilize procedures and specifications
  • All required documentation; including production and housekeeping
  • Comply with company recycling policy
  • Comply with all Plant Safety and Product Safety requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:

  • Inside environmental conditions protected from weather conditions, not necessarily temperature
  • conditions.
  • Outside environmental conditions; there is no effective protection from weather.
  • Inside and outside environments apply.
  • Subject to extreme cold; temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
  • Subject to extreme heat; temperatures above 100 degrees for more than one hour.
  • Subject to noise, causing reason to shout to be heard above the noise level.
  • Subject to vibration, exposure, fluctuating movement of the body.
  • Subject to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, exposure to
  • chemicals, gases, high heat or explosives.
  • Subject to unregulated atmospheric conditions caused by odors, fumes, gases, poor ventilation, and dust.
  • Subject to oils and other cutting fluids via touch or air.
  • Air density conditions causing the use of a respirator.
  • Not exposed to any adverse environmental conditions. (Usually office work.)

TRAINING:

  • All compulsory plant/ site training programs (ISO, Operations, Product Safety, Safety, etc.)

AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING:

  • Making decisions regarding core quality standards, processes, and requirements.

  • 8M Goebel slitter
  • Atlas/ Kampf mini slitters
  • Galbreath baler
  • Spadone Guillotine
  • Dalmee packing crane
  • Knives (retractable, Zepher)
  • Allen wrench
  • Tape measure

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and similar structures using the feet, legs, hands, and/or arms. Body agility is emphasized.
  • Balancing and maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, uneven, or moving surfaces.
  • Stooping, bending the body downward and forward by bending at the spine and waist.
  • Kneeling, bending the legs at the knees to come to rest on one or both knees.
  • Crouching, bending the body downward and forward by bending the legs and spine.
  • Crawling, moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
  • Reaching, extending the hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, including walking for extended distances.
  • Pushing, using the upper extremities to exert steady force to move objects forward, downward, or outward.
  • Pulling, using the upper extremities to exert force to drag, haul, or tug objects.
  • Lifting and carrying objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another.

Lifting requirements:

  • Occasionally lifting and/or carrying objects weighing 5-25 pounds and 26-50 pounds, as required by the position.
  • Fingering, picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with the fingers rather than the whole hand or arm.
  • Grasping, applying pressure to an object using the fingers and palm.
  • Feeling, perceiving the size, shape, temperature, texture, or other physical attributes of objects through touch, particularly with the fingertips.
  • Talking, expressing or exchanging ideas through spoken communication, either face-to-face or by telephone.
  • Hearing, perceiving and distinguishing sounds sufficient to receive verbal communication and make fine auditory discrimination, with or without reasonable accommodation or hearing correction.
  • Repetitive motions, performing substantial and repeated movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, such as filing, sorting, typing, operating equipment, or other repetitive tasks.

VISUAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Machine operation, inspection, close assembly, clerical, and administrative duties requiring close visual attention.
  • Preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, data entry, computer/CRT use, and extensive reading.
  • Performing visual inspections involving small defects, small parts, measurement devices, or fabrication of parts at close working distances.
  • Operating machinery and skilled-trade equipment, including lathes, drills, presses, and power tools, requiring visual attention to work within arm’s reach.
  • Operating mobile equipment, including cars, trucks, buses, forklifts, cranes, and other high-lift equipment, as required by the position.
  • Performing work requires attention to accuracy, detail, and neatness, including tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, janitorial services, and food preparation.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and demonstrate adequate depth perception and spatial awareness is necessary to safely and accurately perform job duties.
