6702 – Technical – PDEN – PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

TITLE: Product Development Engineer

position OBJECTIVE: Develop multi-layer plastic films and silicone coated release liners for the Building and Construction and Tape markets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with a polymer science background or a Master’s degree with a polymer science background
• A Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience in polymer processing such as blown film extrusion, film coating and converting.
• Basic knowledge of Statistics and have good communication skills.

• Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
• Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Primary Responsibilities are interfacing with the sales team & customer service to develop new products for the Building & Construction and Tape markets.
• Provide technical support for products such as product processing recommendations and troubleshooting product issues at customer locations.
• Investigate, analyze and resolve customer complaints when needed.
• Perform plant studies/ trials as part of the steps in the development and manufacture of new products.
• Specify and test new raw materials for approval.
• Interface with raw material suppliers and purchasing on raw material recommendations and/or substitutions.
• Analyze data to establish manufacturing and customer specifications.
• Specifying raw material selection, and equipment recommendations.
• Extruder & Converting equipment optimization.
• Capital equipment installation projects anticipated.

PREFERRED TRAINING:

• Chemical Analysis Instrumentation:
  • FTIR
  • DSC
  • XRF
  • Microscopy
• Physical/Mechanical Property Testing
  • Tensile/ Elongation
  • Tear Test
  • Thickness/ Basis Weight
  • Six Sigma/ Lean/ 5S experience helpful, but not required.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, ELECTRONIC DEVICES & SOFTWARE:

• Computers, Microsoft office, AS400, DSC, FTIR, XRF, Tensile, Tear, Caliper.
