A/C Technician – Heavy Duty Diesel Fleet
Location: Fort Pierce, FL
Shift: Second Shift jobs-near-me.org 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Pay: $23.00 – $27.00 per hour, based on experience

Waste Pro is seeking an experienced A/C Diesel Technician to join our Fort Pierce maintenance team. This position is ideal for a technician with hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing HVAC/A/C systems on heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment.

What You’ll Do
As an A/C Technician, you’ll help maintain and repair climate control systems while supporting our fleet maintenance operation.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose A/C system issues using gauges, leak detectors, recovery machines, and electronic diagnostic equipment
Repair or replace compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, hoses, blower motors, and related components
Inspect and repair belts, pulleys, and engine-driven A/C systems
Diagnose airflow, temperature control, and system pressure concerns
Utilize diagnostic software and fault code analysis tools
Recover, evacuate, and recharge refrigerant systems in compliance with EPA regulations
Inspect and replace cabin air filters, seals, and refrigerant levels
Identify potential equipment failures before they impact operations
Accurately document inspections, repairs, parts usage, and labor time
Assist technicians with repairs involving lights, mirrors, wipers, and other vehicle components
Follow factory service manuals and company maintenance procedures
Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company standards
Communicate effectively with technicians, drivers, and supervisors regarding repair needs and preventive maintenance recommendations
What We’re Looking For
Experience diagnosing and repairing HVAC/A/C systems on diesel trucks or heavy equipment
Strong knowledge of diesel truck HVAC systems and components
Ability to use manifold gauges, recovery machines, and electronic leak detectors
Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, including wiring, relays, sensors, and controls
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and service manuals
Familiarity with diagnostic software and fault code analysis
Basic computer skills
Knowledge of tools and equipment used in fleet maintenance

Preferred Qualifications
Previous fleet maintenance experience
EPA Refrigerant Certification
Experience working on refuse trucks, heavy-duty vehicles, or vocational equipment
Physical Requirements
- Push or pull up to 50 lbs on wheels
- Lift up to 40 lbs from floor to waist unassisted
- Lift up to 25 lbs from floor to shoulder height and overhead
- Frequently bend, reach, twist, and work in various positions throughout the day
- Work both indoors and outdoors, including occasional road calls and exposure to weather conditions

* Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned.
* Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro.

* Physically able to push and pull 50 pounds unassisted
* Physically able to frequently (100-200 times) bend at the knees and waist
* Physically able to frequently (100-200 times) reach over your head or reach out with extended arms to perform work
* Physically able to frequently (100-200 times) twist at the waist to perform work
* Physically able to work in extreme temperatures and weather environments (road calls).
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* Normal setting for this job is: Inside and Outside with occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.
