The team sit within the Insolvency Service’s Business Services Division. The wider team deal with a variety of work, including the payment of redundancy money, processing financial payments, responsibility for the making of bankruptcy and debt relief orders and the customer service telephone line.

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our PPI Team in Exeter which has a vacancy for 10 Distribution Case Officers. 

The work of the PPI Team is focused on the timely distribution of funds received from the recovery of PPI related assets held on bankruptcy cases. This is a significant piece of work for the Insolvency Service which directly supports our objective of maximising returns to creditors. The successful candidates will be working within an operational team, dealing with a variety of casework and admin duties. This includes sending out letters and emails, entering information onto our casework system and distributing funds to creditors.

Responsibilities

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • managing a case load of bankruptcy and partnership cases
  • sending letters and emails to insolvency creditors and dealing with follow up queries and information requests
  • entering information onto our computer system and producing standard reports for approval
  • following guidance and protocols to prepare cases for payment and distributing funds to creditors
  • providing general support to the other business areas outlined above, when this is needed
  • providing excellent customer service

This post is open for Full-time, Part-time, Job-share and Flexible working. Part-time and Job-share require a minimum of 16 hours per week.

Please note that the South West Regional Centre (SWRC) in Exeter will be relocating to the Met Office. If successful, you will be expected to work from this new office location.

Person specification

To be successful in this role you will need to be able to demonstrate the following: 

  • have a motivation for learning, excellent organisational skills and good time management, enabling you to meet deadlines
  • an ability to follow instructions and guidelines carefully and to ask for help when needed
  • a desire to work as part of a team to meet targets; this includes helping colleagues and being flexible when urgent work needs to be completed
  • be able to work unsupervised and use your initiative
  • have some experience of using Outlook, Word and Excel, or be prepared to learn these skills
