Academic Student Support Program Specialist – Pre-College Programs (HEOa)
POSITION DETAILS
Guttman Community College at CUNY seeks an Academic Student Support Program Specialist for pre-college programs such as College Now, CUNY/Math Start, and related programs. Reporting to the Associate Director of Pre-College Programs & Academic Success, the Academic Student Support Program Specialist for pre-college programs will be responsible for conducting comprehensive individual and group student orientations, information sessions and interviews, academic advising, performance feedback sessions and conferences, skills development seminars, workshops, recruitment/outreach, new student orientation and other activities on campus and at city high schools. These activities will enable successful pre-college program enrollment, completion, college transition and matriculation. They may also work with a set group of students to cultivate and oversee their educational and advisement plans.

CUNY Start is an intensive pre-matriculation program for incoming associate-degree seeking CUNY students who need to increase their academic proficiency in English and/or mathematics prior to enrollment in college credit classes. Math Start, based on the CUNY Start math curriculum and advisement model, enrolls students who have been accepted to CUNY but have not met CUNY proficiency standards in mathematics. CUNY Start/Math Start programs may deliver services and instruction in multiple formats: in-person, online or as hybrid models that are both online and in-person. Online work may entail the use of platforms such as Brightspace, Zoom, and other remote instructional tools that are available and approved by the University and which support the goals and practices of the program. College Now is CUNY’s major collaboration with New York City Public Schools (NYCPS). Its defining goal is to help students graduate from high school prepared for success in college through participation in a broad array of awareness and preparedness programs. The goal of the program is to help students earn college credits or become college ready before graduating from high school. College Now also promotes knowledge about college access and career-awareness. The aim is to improve NYC students’ capacity for successful transition to post-secondary education. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and four years’ related experience required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$64,649 – $75,465; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
