Summary of Job Duties:Join our team at UAMS Family Medical Clinic in Texarkana as an Access Coordinator II! In this vital role, you’ll deliver exceptional patient support by greeting visitors, managing appointments, referrals, and tests, and handling patient check-ins and check-outs with professionalism. You’ll also verify insurance coverage, process payments, and respond to third-party payer needs, ensuring smooth clinic operations. Under supervision, you’ll build on the foundational skills of an Access Coordinator I, taking on increased responsibilities to make a real impact on patient care and clinic efficiency. Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED
• Two (2) years of customer service or healthcare experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Basic proficiency with computers (preferablyMS Office)
• Excellent telephone etiquette skills
• General knowledge of office machines, including printers and scanners.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Knowledge of healthcare insurance eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with EPIC Systems.
• Experience in registration, billing, or scheduling in a healthcare environment.
• Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
• Two (2) years of experience in registration or scheduling in a healthcare environment.

Additional Information:

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and collect copays, coinsurance, and past-due patient balances.
• Post payments, print receipts, and balance cash drawer.
• Prepares necessary documentation for daily deposits.
• Works registration and front desk, and assists billing to identify potential insurance billing and payment issues.
• Provide courteous and prompt attention to patients while in registration and front desk area.
• Monitors changes in billing procedures within assigned areas and communicates changes to employees in the work unit.
• Review patient accounts for demographical, insurance, and/or payment errors.
• Tracking appointment cancellations, no-shows, etc.
• Ensure faxing, scanning, and importing are completed in a timely manner.
• Reviews and matches patient billing information with billing verifications, diagnoses, and other supporting documentation.
• Schedule patient appointments, verify insurance eligibility, and counsel patients regarding office policies.
• Review Patient Portal requests for demographic or other changes. Review the requested change and approve changes as appropriate and according to policy.
• Review Patient Portal request for appointment request, schedule as appropriate, and follow up with the patient per their requested communication type.
• Sort and distribute incoming mail.
• Must be able to function in a positive manner in a high-volume environment with a professional attitude to ensure the highest level of customer service.
• A high commitment to maintaining consistent attendance is required
• Fill in as a Call Center Representative and cross-train in various other areas as needed.
• Generates reports for accounting.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
