Job Description

The Accessibility and Volunteer Coordinator role is imperative to enhance the operational efficiency and impact of SWCHRS programs. By ensuring the effective expansion and quality of our professional development offerings, this position will align our programs with evolving market trends and customer preferences, securing the future success of SWCHRS. This role will not only support the growing number of attendees with accessibility needs but also lead and strengthen our volunteer program, ultimately contributing to the department’s continued success and growth. Given the immense growth in SWCHRS programs and the increasing number of attendees, this position is essential to maintain our high standards of inclusivity and support, ensuring that our events remain accessible and well-coordinated.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinates and manages all volunteers and accessibility needs related to programs facilitated by the Southwest Center for Human Relations Studies.
  • Coordinates all volunteers related to the project(s).
  • Coordinates all accessibility requests related to the projects(s).
  • Interfaces and serves as liaison with Campus, College, and Department administration to accomplish project(s) outcomes.
  • Leads the successful implementation of volunteer scheduling and coordination using basic planning techniques.
  • Establishes and maintains an on-going reporting process.
  • Attend meetings, workgroup sessions.
  • Provides training and develops on-going training as needed for volunteers.
  • Performs related duties as assigned or as required to fulfill the functions of the position successfully.

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree, AND: 

  • 24 months of project management or related experience.

Skills:

  • Advanced organization and communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and judgments when following broad instructions.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize workload—advanced level of analytical, evaluative, and constructive thinking.

Certifications:

  • None

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for prolonged periods.
  • Communicate effectively and listen.
  • Use of a computer.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Standard Office Environment

Departmental Preferences:

  • Experience in recruiting and coordinating volunteers for large events
  • Excellent customer service skills
