Accounts Payable Accountant

Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the company’s accounts payable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all financial transactions. This role is crucial in maintaining vendor relationships and supporting overall financial health. You will report to the North American Senior Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
- Invoice Processing: Review, verify, and process vendor invoices and expense reports in a timely manner.
- Payment Management: Prepare and execute payments via check, ACH, or other methods while ensuring adherence to payment terms.
- Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Vendor Relations: Maintain positive relationships with vendors and respond to inquiries regarding invoices and payments.
- Record Keeping: Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately in the accounting system and maintain organized records of all accounts payable activities.
- Month-End Closing: Assist in month-end closing activities by providing accounts payable reports and analysis.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies, as well as relevant regulations and standards.
- Reporting: Generate and analyze accounts payable reports to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as procurement and finance, to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in accounts payable or a similar role (2 years preferred).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
