Adjunct Instructor, Childhood Education/Special Education Grades 1 – 6

Overview

The Adjunct Instructor works with the Program Chair and Lead Course Instructor to teach program courses. The Adjunct Instructor is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion and advises and supervises master’s degree candidates, actively participates in faculty collaborative learning, and demonstrates scholarly productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate course sections (on campus and online) in one or more of the following areas:
  • child/adolescent development
  • assessment
  • teaching students with disabilities
  • literacy instruction
  • mathematics and science instruction
  • educational technology
  • history and philosophy of general and special education
  • May supervise candidates during clinical practice.
  • Support program advisement for candidates.

Qualifications

Education

  • Masters Degree required, earned doctorate preferred, in Curriculum, Instruction, Special Education, or related field
  • Current certification in Childhood Education and in Special Education

Experience

  • Successful classroom teaching experience, Grades 1-6, of diverse students
  • Successful graduate-level teaching experience, face-to-face and/or online
  • Successful leadership experience
  • Experience in course and program design
  • Successful experience supervising degree candidates in clinical field placements, if assigned for clinical supervision

Skills/Knowledge

  • Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
  • Proficiency in online learning platforms including Canvas and Zoom
  • Knowledge of NYSED teacher certification examinations

Travel

  • Occasional travel to Program Meetings at Touro College locations.

Maximum Salary

USD $4,000.00/Sem

Minimum Salary

USD $3,500.00/Sem
