Here at Serco, we are looking for an Administrative Assistant to join the Offender Management team at our new state of the art Category C prison, HMP Fosse Way.
The role of an Admin Support Officer (ASO) based within the Offender Management Unit (OMU) is to work as part of a team, ensuring up to date prisoner records are kept throughout periods in custody whether on remand or sentenced. In addition, allocating work to Prison/Probation Offender Managers and obtaining information to assist with and inform risk management.

- This position requires upmost trust and decorum when dealing with sensitive information.
- A team player with flexibility and interpersonal skills with visitors, staff and prisoners. Good communication skills and the ability to monitor and audit processes and procedures.
- Organisational and analytical skills.
- Understanding of working in a secure environment
The successful candidate will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities, and duties:
- Carrying out sentence calculations and checks in line with local and national policy when a prisoner is received into the establishment and prior to their release
- Obtaining legal documentation and warrants following court/video link appearances and updating prisoner records accordingly
- Liaising with courts, prisons and other agency bodies to ensure all prisoners are held in custody legally and compliant with policy
- Updating prison recording systems (NOMIS/DPS/local databases) following admission of all new prisoners or on any significant change of sentence
- Completion of the administrative elements of the HDC and ROTL processes
- Contributing to the smooth running and overall performance within the department
- Interrogate data and provide assurances to management
- This role would suit a candidate who is process driven with a keen eye for detail and has worked in a similar role previously
What you will need to do the role
- Full training will be given although previous sentence calculation experience is desirable and advantageous
- An inquisitive mindset and the confidence to question differing data
- English – Grade C or above
- Mathematics – Grade C or above
- Computer skills – including Outlook and Excel
- Good working knowledge of databases
- Demonstration of flexibility and the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
