Administrative Superintendent of Buildings & Grounds, Level 2 (Provisional) – Evening Shift (3:00 pm – 11:00 pm)
GENERAL DUTIES
This is a classified managerial position with four (4) assignment levels. Levels are based upon size of staff and campus:
Under general direction, with wide latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative, oversees and is responsible for areas such as: cleaning, operating, maintaining, repairing and making improvements to the physical plant and grounds of a campus; the safe and effective operation and maintenance of the campus facilities; reviewing of repair/service requests and making inspections; establishing preventive maintenance plans and standards; the implementation of campus sustainability and energy saving measures; and dealing with outside vendors, contractors, federal, state, local and other entities.

The CUNY Graduate Center (GC), is the focal point for advanced teaching and research at The City University of New York (CUNY), the nation’s largest urban public university. With over 35 doctoral and master’s programs of the highest caliber, the GC fosters pioneering research and scholarship in the arts and sciences and prepares students for careers in universities and the private, nonprofit, and government sectors. The Graduate Center’s commitment to research and scholarship for the public good is exemplified by its more than 30 centers, institutes, and initiatives, including its Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC). Located on the City College campus, the ASRC promotes collaboration among scientist in five areas of global research and innovation: nanoscience, photonics, structural biology, neuroscience, and environmental sciences.

The Office of Facilities Services and Campus Planning supports the CUNY Graduate Center’s mission, vision, values, and goals by providing services in support of the College’s educational goals and mission through facilities planning, space management, and the development and administration of capital construction, building maintenance and renovation projects to accommodate academic and administrative programs, expansions and priorities.
The professional staff in the Office of Facilities Services and Campus Planning, in conjunction with the building engineers, maintenance and custodial staff provide maintenance, operation, cleaning and management of the College’s landmarked building – once the home of the B. Altman Department store – on Fifth Avenue. The Office is responsible for the management of the College’s 490,000 square feet of space on eight floors, including all building systems.
The GC seeks an evening Administrative Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, Level 2, who will report to the Director of Facilities. Please note that this is an evening position, with a set schedule of Monday to Friday 3:00p.m.-11:00 p.m. and occasional weekends. This position is in person, is classified as an essential employee, and does not include any remote work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
NOTE: An advanced degree in a managerial field from an accredited college may be substituted for an additional year of managerial/administrative experience.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work evenings, in-person, from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm and occasional weekends.
COMPENSATION
$66,212.88 – $70,000. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
