The Role and the Department
Disability Support is the central specialist service dedicated to providing academic related support, advice and guidance for students with disabilities. The service also provides advice and guidance to staff to support them in meeting the University’s duty to students with disabilities within the context of equality legislation and inclusive education.
A busy team of Disability Practitioners offer student consultation appointments on both a bookable and drop-in basis. This gives students the opportunity to confidentially ask about disability disclosure and support; to ask about the impact of their disability on study and to explore academic reasonable adjustments.
Your role will be to provide administrative support to the Head of Department and the team of Disability Support staff. The main aspect of the role is to provide and oversee a professional and effective front of house service. This needs to positively reflect the work of the service and make access inclusive for all. Equally, you will be required to contribute to all administrative functions across a complex, busy and multi-faceted student support service. You will also process financial information on behalf of the Head of Department and service staff as well as contribute to the development of systems and processes to deliver service developments.
The service is currently transitioning to a new student CRM system.
Please note that while this role will primarily be based within Disability Support, the postholder will also be part of the wider Student Support & Wellbeing Directorate Administration Team. There may be occasional need for the postholder to provide temporary administrative support to other support services within the wider Directorate, as required.
The Disability Support Service currently operates a hybrid working pattern. Any agreed hybrid working pattern is always based on business need and may be subject to change.
