<div class="isg-job-description“>The Neurodevelopmental Behavioral Pediatrics (NDBP) Division in the Department of Pediatrics specializes in the care of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities, including children with cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, Autism, ADHD, NAS, NICU grads with significant delays and other neurodevelopmentally challenged pediatric patients as appropriate. They have a specialty clinic for these children who are in foster or community care and provide behavioral therapy and other therapy services as part of their clinic. There are currently 8 MD and 8 APP positions.

*experience managing ADHD, autism and/or other developmentally at-risk pediatric and adolescent populations, including medication management is preferred but not required.

*Licensure/Certifications: CPNP-PC, CPNP-AC, FNP, PA
Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.

Administration

• Partners with site Medical Director and clinic leadership to optimize patient flow, operational efficiency, and access to care.
• Supports implementation of enhanced care delivery models designed to improve population health outcomes and patient satisfaction.
• Participates in performance improvement, data reporting, and outcomes tracking for UVA Children’s Neurodevelopmental Division
• Ensures accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record and adherence to UVA Health documentation and compliance standards.

• Participates in interprofessional collaboration with physicians, nurses, care coordinators, and learners to ensure seamless, team-based care.

Clinical

• Provides comprehensive clinical leadership and direction in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
• Performs and documents complete histories, physical exams, and pertinent findings.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic tests; formulates medical diagnoses based on results.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates treatment plans, including prescribing appropriate interventions.
• Coordinates patient flow, specialty consultations, admissions, and transfers with the care team.
• Communicates and advocates for patients and families, addressing educational needs, treatment options, and age-specific considerations.

Leadership

• Acts as a role model to colleagues, interdisciplinary team members, the institution and to the community.
• Demonstrates respect to all within the institution and community.
• Demonstrates leadership abilities in the development, mentorship and empowerment of others within the healthcare community.
• Assumes leadership role in the development of the Advanced Practice Role to patients, families, other healthcare professionals and to the community.
• Coordinates meeting applicable leadership standards for all disciplines in collaboration with physician(s) and team members.

Meets leadership competency standards

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master’s degree.

Experience: Department and unit specific.

Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 – 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The starting base rate for this role is $81,078.40 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
