PORTCO, Inc is a non-stock, non-profit, 501(C) (3) corporation located in Suffolk, Virginia. PORTCO was founded in 1991 as an Employment Service Organization to provide transitional, supported employment and vocational services to individuals with disabilities who could not otherwise find and maintain competitive employment on their own.
This position is responsible for assisting in the completion of janitorial and cleaning duties assigned to team members, ensuring compliance with established contracts. The role involves coordinating information related to inspections, maintenance of required equipment, documentation, and training. Additionally, this position supervises a work crew and performs contractual janitorial duties as necessary. It is a working supervisor role.
Assist in overseeing in-house services, including cleaning, maintenance and repair, and other assigned tasks. Inspect work performed to ensure it meets specifications and established standards. Instruct and train employees on work policies and procedures, the proper use and maintenance of equipment, health and safety protocols, and other relevant training.
Job Responsibilities: Assist in preparing employee work schedules. Inventory stock to ensure that supplies and equipment are available in adequate amounts. Prepare activity and personnel reports. Maintain required records including work hours, payroll details, work performed, time studies, and other relevant information. – Participate in staff training and development activities. – Attend all mandatory meetings. -Perform cleaning duties as necessary. Oversee and assist with the vocational needs of employees with varying disabilities. Required Competencies: To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: Problem Solving: Identify and resolve problems in a timely and effective manner. Oral Communication: Communicate clearly and positively in both favorable and challenging situations. Delegation: Effectively assign work tasks, encourage subordinates to work independently, set expectations, and monitor assigned activities. Leadership: Inspire and motivate others to perform well while accepting feedback. Judgment: Show willingness to make decisions, exhibit sound judgment, and make timely choices. Planning/Organizing: Prioritize and plan work activities, using time efficiently. Safety and Security: Promote and observe safety and security procedures actively while using equipment and materials properly. Requirements: Candidates should possess a combination of training, experience, or education that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Preferred qualifications include 2-5 years of experience in commercial janitorial services, with increasing responsibilities, and experience working with individuals with disabilities.

Employees must also be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Additionally, specific vision capabilities required for the job include the ability to see clearly up close and at a distance, perceive colors, have peripheral vision, judge depth, and adjust focus when necessary.

Work will be performed Germanna Community College Fredericksburg, VA.
