OverviewWe are looking for a Market Intelligence Analyst who will take the lead to produce accurate and informative reports that focus on current relevant information including micro and macroeconomic trends, public policy, market statistics, commercial developments, noteworthy news, etc.This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside all service lines within Avison Young. The successful candidate must possess strong administration and task management skills, exhibit excellent organizational skills, demonstrate an eye for detail, and must thrive in a fast-pace, team environment.Responsibilities

  • Working closely with our brokers teams to ensure Avison Young has a clear, data-based, analytically informed view of current trends and future outlook for real estate markets and sectors within the region; this view must be informed by wider trends at national and global levels, be updated on a timely basis, and communicated clearly and effectively to key stakeholders.
  • Develop “subject matter expertise” on the Edmonton commercial real estate market, communicating effectively with colleagues and clients on real estate and related trends and market activity within the region.
  • Supporting the preparation of regular or ad hoc analytical outputs that promote understanding of local and regional real estate trends and their implications for clients and client presentations. These outputs may include data products, written commentaries, or presentation material as appropriate for the audience concerned.
  • Conduct a variety of information searches (availability, vacancy/sale, tenant information, transaction information, title information, zoning/planning restrictions, demographics, etc.) utilizing internal and external resources.
  • Partnering with national Data Team to enhance AY proprietary databases through curating and collecting economic, demographic and real estate data.
  • Performing other ad hoc duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management

Qualifications

  • BA degree in Economics, Statistics, Commercial Real Estate or equivalent
  • Previous experience working in a research role within the CRE industry is preferred
  • Analytic with strong written and verbal communication skills, proofing, and editing skills with a drive for accuracy and details
  • Organized and able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Possess characteristic traits of independent thinking and self-starting initiative
  • Proficient in Microsoft office with advanced Excel skills
  • Must be proactive with a keen sense of urgency
