Job summary

Do you have excellent communication and organisational skills? Are you a team worker with the ability to use your own initiative? If the answer is yes, then we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated AO Administrative Officer to join our encouraging and welcoming team of dedicated military and civilian healthcare professionals and administrative staff working at Hospital Hill, Aldershot, Hampshire.

The vacant post is a full-time position working 37 hours per week. Part-time candidates will be considered but due to service delivery requirements it must be on a job share basis as full-time hours need to be covered.

Strategic Command is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to improve the way the Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. Job description

The successful post holder will work as a member of the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) team, which provides comprehensive, efficient and effective service in accordance with Ministry of Defence and Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) policies and procedures. The Aldershot Combined Medical Practice is across two sites at Aldershot and Minley. The post holder would work primarily at Aldershot but may be required to support the MTF at Minley.

Person specification

The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to: 

  • Opening up/locking of Practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols. Maintaining Health and Safety and Environmental protection standards and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH). Ensuring colleagues and visitors to the Practice comply with Practice Health and Safety policy. Reporting all accidents, injuries and dangerous occurrences promptly to line management.
  • Ensuring that the reception areas are never left unmanned during normal working hours and that patient and reception waiting areas are always clean and tidy. Ensuring patient information booklets are available and current. Ensuring that information boards are current.
  • Overseeing the running of clinics, maintaining and monitoring the Practice appointments system. Preparing documentation for all clinics, checking documents after clinics and taking appropriate action and filing away documents promptly.
  • Ensuring that all medical documentation/records are up-to-date, accurate and neat. Managing the implementation of systems for the successful performance of medico-legal requirements, medical ethics and patient confidentiality.
