This role offers 37 hours per week and all requests to work flexibly will be considered, allowing for business needs, and reviewed annually. The salary will be pro-rata where part-time hours are undertaken.

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the quality and smooth running of the administrative area of the Dental Centre. They will be the first line of contact with patients and visitors and must always promote a positive and professional image of the Dental Centre.

They will support and assist the Senior Dental Officer and Practice Manager in ensuring delivery of primary dental healthcare across the Region. They will also be required to maintain data on the DMICP (Defence Medical Information Capability Programme) computer system conducting system backups and upgrades, audits, and searches of DMICP, as required.

They will aim to provide a friendly, efficient service to enable patients to access dental care, aiding the clinicians in referring and booking where requested, and will require the ability to work solo or in a team as necessary.

The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to: 

  • Initial contact with patients and ensuring the reception area is always operated professionally and kept tidy.
  • Checking-in patients and raising the necessary documentation.
  • Maintain patient and staff confidentiality.
  • Carry out all administrative duties required within the department including answering incoming communications, any photocopying, scanning during the day as requested by Line Manager/Practice manager.
  • Maintaining the appointment system on DMICP (Defence Medical Information Capability Programme) and handling daily clinics on DMICP.
  • Booking in all prosthetic work, referring this to the relevant Clinician and making the appropriate appointment

Additional essential criteria required, including but not limited to:

Essential Criteria

  • A good working understanding of Microsoft (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Confidence in using Information Technology
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good listening skills

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous work in medical/dental Facilities and/or Military background.
  • Prior experience of customer care / receptionist duties.
