Sanders Brothers Construction is currently seeking an Asphalt Plant Laborer to support Sanders Brothers’ Asphalt Plant operations in Moncks Corner, Summerville and Charleston, SC. The Asphalt Plant is a critical component to Sanders Brother’s 60+ years of success in the asphalt paving industry and requires dedicated workers to ensure productivity. The Asphalt Plant Laborers will be responsible for assisting different functions within the plant and will require night shifts based on production needs. This position will allow the laborer to gain advanced skills in the asphalt construction industry.
Roles and Responsibilities:

• The Asphalt Plant Laborer will be responsible for assisting all plant employees in daily operations and supporting all production operations.
• Operate heavy equipment associated with the plant including but not limited to skid steer, manlift, excavator.
• Monitor equipment to ensure proper operation and prevent equipment failure due to improper usage.
• Assist with routine maintenance.
• Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, varying temperatures, loud noises, etc.
• Keep company, property and equipment clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns or problems.
• Comply with all SBCC policies, procedures and safety requirements.
• Proficient in SBCC’s Lock-out/Tag-out Policies & Procedures and all other Safety regulations.
• Perform any other duties as directed.
• Communicate any problems or customer needs with other plant personnel via voice or radio.

Qualifications and education Requirements: 

• High School diploma or its equivalent is preferred.
• experience working in asphalt, concrete or other large industrial plant setting preferred.
• Ability to comply with and identify potential safety concerns.
• Work at heights of up to 100 feet.
• Lift plant components up to 50 pounds and heavier.
• Must have the ability to stand, sit, kneel, squat, push, pull, and climb for up to 10 hours
• Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment.
• Must meet SBCC’s employment standards with regards to background checks.
• Flexible availability to include overtime, weekends and will require periods of “on-call” time.

Preferred Skills:

• Previous experience in operating various types of heavy mobile equipment and working in a production setting is preferred but not required.
