About The Position:
Expected to begin Spring or Fall 2025, this tenure-track position will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Management Information Systems and Cybersecurity Management. Student advisement along with departmental, college, and university service is expected. Faculty are further expected to be actively engaged on campus and contribute to an energetic educational environment. The Management, Information Systems, and Data Analytics (MISA) department provides our students with opportunities to cultivate a profound understanding of information systems, technology, and analytics, along with insights into the foremost principles and business practices of the 21st century. The School of Business & Economics is internationally accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). We offer students a broad-based education with a global perspective and an emphasis on experiential learning. As SUNY Plattsburgh is an institution that delivers challenging and high-quality educational experiences to a diverse group of learners, the successful candidate must demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity, inclusion, and equity-minded policies, programs, and practices. The successful candidate may be asked to teach courses in a distance learning format.
Required Qualifications:
- ABD or holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field at the time of appointment. ABD will be considered for appointment at a lesser (qualified) rank and salary, upon proof that the applicant’s defense of their dissertation will be scheduled within the first year of the appointment. A successful ABD applicant will receive a promotion to the rank of Assistant Professor and a salary increment at the start of the semester following verification of the terminal degree completion. An ABD hire will be limited to a one-year appointment, subject to renewal for one year only (2 years maximum).
- Academic concentration, research programs, and/or professional experience in area(s) directly related to Cybersecurity
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and service in an institution dedicated primarily to undergraduate education
- Academically qualified, at the time of appointment, with respect to AACSB standards (A record of consistent publication of articles in scholarly journals or evidence of a promising research stream will be necessary to ensure qualification under AACSB)
- A demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators
- Excellent communication skills
To be considered for Associate Professor rank, additional required qualifications include:
- 5 years minimum of teaching experience in MIS and Cybersecurity at an accredited school of business
- A clear record of university service
- Recent history of the consistent publication of articles in scholarly refereed journals
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. by the time of appointment
- Relevant teaching experience in information systems and/or cybersecurity
- Relevant industry certifications such as Security+, CISM, CISSP, CRISC
- Knowledge of risk management frameworks like NIST SP 800-30 series, OCTAVE, FAIR; and security governance frameworks like COBIT 5, Security Maturity Model
- Willingness and ability to teach in Online and HyFlex modes
Salary (Applicant View)$94,000 minimum, plus excellent benefits
