position Summary

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM), in partnership with IU Health Medical Group (IUHMG), is seeking to recruit two anatomic pathologists with strong diagnostic skills in surgical pathology and cytopathology at our brand-new facility opening in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Additional specific subspecialty areas are welcome. The pathology footprint at Fort Wayne will also include a full-time clinical pathologist who will be the CLIA holder, a pathologist’s assistant, and a cytologist. This recruitment is part of a strategic expansion driven by continued growth across the Indiana University Health (IU Health) system.

IU Health is expanding access to high-quality, patient-centered care, with a new 140 bed hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The hospital will bring a broad range of services, including emergency, surgical, and specialty care, closer to home for individuals and families in the region. Information on this investment into Fort Wayne’s future can be found at: New IU Health Fort Wayne Hospital jobs-near-me.org Project Updates.

IU Health Fort Wayne is part of the 17-hospital IU Health Laboratory System served by over 70 pathologists. Although based in Fort Wayne, these positions will have access to the expertise of the subspecialized pathologists operating out of the department’s IU Health Central Pathology Laboratory in Indianapolis. Being a part of the expansive IU Health Laboratory system affords the ideal candidate the ability to practice in a community environment with the support of the enriched environment created by an academic pathology practice.

The hospital is scheduled to open on May 1, 2027. As such, selected candidates will be expected to begin employment in early 2027 to support onboarding and operational readiness.
