Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Facilities Information Systems is responsible for providing leadership and driving current and future technology advancements for Facilities Planning & Management (FPM) and the university. The Assistant Director provides strategic analysis, planning, organization, communication and management to meet all aspects of the design, implementation and ongoing support of departmental and university systems and related data to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure platform technology.

After the initial onboarding period, this position has the opportunity to work a hybrid, weekly schedule of three days onsite, two days remote.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership for FPM’s technology needs, including but not limited to, hardware, software, and security, through the evaluation and recommends and implements improvements. Collaborates with stakeholders to understand system needs and guide future technology.
  • Travels to zones and assessing needs (e.g. physical technology, systems, data access and mobile technology).
  • Leads and approves systems and devices for buildings systems to ensure systems security (i.e. systems monitor usage and it can cost the university more or less money, supporting laboratory exhaust process, manages upgrades and installs technology used for lighting systems)
  • Supports ARC GIS for the university for assessing space data connecting with university space systems.
  • Oversees, develops, hires, and organizes teams including direct reports, WUIT resources and other internal resources necessary to accomplish technology initiatives. This includes analysis, establishing priorities, developing standards, and setting timelines.
  • Collaborates with external partners to assess technology as part of the PhysOps Admin Technology subcommittee and other administrative IT subcommittees, making recommendations for university improvements in networks, security and physical operations.
  • Reviews and approves all systems and programs prior to their implementation.
  • Develops computer information resources, providing for data and controls security.
  • Modifies systems and conducts major system analysis and design including database system design and technical support.
  • Oversees the implementation of the FPM, multi-year technology plan including the system and business process development.
  • Directs the FPM drone program which provides data for efficient operation and utilization of technology and space resources for the campus, construction, maintenance and other campus partners.
  • Provides guidance and support to project teams, ensuring adherence to disciplined project management methodology, including documentation, progress monitoring, and implementation standards.
  • Stays updated with industry trends and best practices to recommend system improvements and advancements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$84,200.00 – $148,500.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
