Intercollegiate Athletics
The University of Missouri Department of Athletics is seeking an Assistant Director of Football Athletic Performance to support the physical development, performance optimization, and injury risk reduction of Mizzou Football student-athletes. Reporting to the Executive Director of Athletic Performance – Football, this position will assist in the design, implementation, and supervision of a comprehensive strength, conditioning, and performance programs while aligning with the strategic goals of the Football program and the Department of Athletics.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strength and Conditioning Program Implementation (35%)
* Assist in the development and execution of a year-round strength, conditioning, speed, agility, and mobility programs for football student-athletes.
* Coach and supervise daily training sessions, ensuring proper technique, safety, and intensity standards.
* Support individualized programming based on position-specific demands, performance data, and return-to-play status.
2. Performance Monitoring and Data Utilization (20%)
* Assist with the collection, analysis, and Application of performance metrics, including GPS, wellness, strength testing, and movement data.
* Monitor athlete workload and recovery to help optimize performance and reduce injury risk.
* Communicate performance insights and recommendations to the Executive Director of Athletic Performance, coaching staff, sports medicine, and support personnel.
3. Collaboration with Sports Medicine, Nutrition, and Player Support Areas (15%)
* Work closely with athletic trainers, sports medicine staff, nutrition, and mental performance personnel to support holistic athlete development.
* Assist in the implementation of return-to-play and return-to-performance protocols for injured student-athletes.
* Ensure training activities align with medical guidance and athlete readiness.
4. Player Development and Culture Building (15%)
* Contribute to the development of a positive, disciplined, and high-performance culture within the football program.
* Mentor and educate student-athletes on training principles, recovery strategies, nutrition habits, and lifestyle behaviors that support long-term performance.
* Support leadership development and accountability within the weight room and training environment.
5. Facility, Equipment, and Operations Support (10%)
* Assist with daily operations of football strength and conditioning facilities, including scheduling, setup, maintenance, and cleanliness.
* Help manage strength and conditioning equipment inventory, safety inspections, and facility standards.
* Support interns, graduate assistants, and student workers as assigned.
6. Other Duties and Compliance (5%)
* Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Athletics & Executive Director of Athletic Performance.
* Ensure compliance with University, NCAA, and SEC rules, policies, and procedures related to athletic performance activities.
Monday thru Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm; Nights and weekends as required.
A Bachelor’s degree in related/ relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Salary Range: Salary is commensurate with education and experience
