Join Campus Ministry as the next Assistant Director for Multicultural Outreach!
This unique role is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students from diverse backgrounds while contributing to and enriching the faith life of all in the Notre Dame community. Campus Ministry invites everyone at Notre Dame to live joyfully rooted in Jesus and the mission of the Congregation of Holy Cross. The Assistant Director of Multicultural Outreach (ADMO) plays a pivotal role in this mission by fostering relationships with students, core teams, and key partners on campus to create meaningful opportunities that deepen the faith lives of students from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, and empowers them to share the riches of the global Catholic Church with the entire Notre Dame community.
The ADMO works with a team of staff, student interns, and volunteer leaders, and oversees engagement with the Asian, Black, and Latino cultural families across campus. This Assistant Director position will have a structural impact on how Campus Ministry engages in the work of multicultural ministry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide Vision and Guidance for Multicultural Ministries (35%)
- Oversight of the Ministry: Oversee Campus Ministry’s multicultural student outreach and the development of community at the intersection of faith and culture, including the celebration of faith as experienced within the Asian, Black, and Latino cultural families, and sharing those celebrations and experiences with all on Notre Dame’s campus.
- Guidance of Ministry Team: Supervise and empower a ministry team that includes undergraduate and graduate student interns, volunteer student leaders, and potential future staff, providing direction, vision, and formation.
- Collaborative Engagement: As part of a dynamic and multifaceted Campus Ministry team, the ADMO will interact daily with colleagues in Student Ministry, Pastoral Care, and Liturgy, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment. The ADMO will also foster and maintain relationships with key partners and student organizations across campus.
Latino Student Ministry (30%)
Work closely with the Latino community on campus by building relationships with students, developing student leadership, fostering community – including coordinating weekly Sunday Mass in Spanish – and offering monthly programming that highlights faith in the Latino experience.
Black and Asian Student Ministry (30%)
Work closely with the Black and Asian communities on campus by building relationships with students, developing student leadership, fostering community, and offering monthly programming that highlights faith in the Black and Asian experiences.
International and Interfaith Ministry (10%)
Oversee key international student and interfaith programming, and maintain relationships with student clubs of various faith traditions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of Catholic theology and the Holy Cross charism.
- Strong organizational, communication, and team-building skills, with a focus on collaboration.
- Ability to engage diverse perspectives and foster an inclusive environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least three to five years of experience in ministry or a related field.
- Some experience managing diverse teams of staff and volunteers.
- Experience planning diverse liturgical and non-liturgical prayer experiences.
