We seek a scientist with an outstanding track record for innovative research in modern or ancient sedimentary systems. We are especially interested in candidates with with research interests in sedimentary processes, basin dynamics, paleoclimatology or georesources. Candidates with a research focus in the Arctic and a solid foundation in field geology are strongly encouraged to apply. A $2M Cenovus endowment is available to help support graduate student research. The starting date is July 1, 2025.Title of the position: Assistant ProfessorDuties: The responsibilities include: 1) teaching across a broad spectrum of sedimentary geology with a strong field component; 2) supervising BSc, MSc and PhD students; 3) developing an externally-funded research program; 4) establishing connections with industry and government agencies; and 5) contributing to administrative and academic activities with the department and faculty.Rank and salary: Regular tenure-track academic appointment in the Faculty of Science, with a salary consistent with the collective agreement of the Association of Professors of the University of Ottawa.
