Position description
The McGill University Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health (EBOH),
part of the School of Population and Global Health (SPGH), in the Faculty of Medicine and Health
Sciences invites applications for a full-time position in public health sciences at the rank of Assistant
Professor (Teaching). This is a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for
tenure.The Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health (EBOH) is affiliated with the
Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University,
located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec. Our Department
is home to one of the largest concentrations of doctoral-level epidemiologists and biostatisticians,
with internationally recognized research programs in topics such as Bayesian methods, big data,
causal inference, risk prediction, privacy protection, spatial models, and clinical trials designs and
methods.Recognized as one of the top academic units for biomedical statistics in the world, EBOH offers a

class research and teach future researchers and public health practice leaders.Job Duties
The successful candidate will have substantive administrative and teaching experience in Public
Health sciences, ideally with a focus on application and evaluation. The incumbent will also be
expected to lead the MSc PH training program while overseeing all the aspects of program
administration and management (i.e., program design, teaching, curriculum, practica, student
advising, and admissions), and to teach public health courses relevant to their expertise.The successful candidate will also be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s
academic mission (i.e., research, teaching, supervision of students, and involvement in academic and
administrative committees).All McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the
University, and the wider scholarly community. A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and
inclusion is also expected.Qualifications and Education Requirements
Candidates must:

  • Have a PhD in a discipline relevant to Public Health;
  • Possess relevant experience in program administration and management;
  • Have teaching experience in Public Health sciences;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality teaching and inclusive pedagogy;
  • Fluency in English is essential; a working knowledge of French, or a commitment to
