Position Description
The McGill University Department of Global and Public Health (DGPH) within the School of
Population and Global Health (SPGH) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is inviting
applications for a full-time Contract Academic Staff position at the rank of Assistant Professor
(Teaching) in the field of Public Health and Global Health. This will be a Contract Academic Staff
position and does not confer eligibility for tenure.The Department of Global and Public Health is one of the three departments within the School of
Population and Global Health at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the
vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec. Our dedicated team of experts
involved in diverse academic activities and diverse translational research are committed to
addressing health inequities and advance public health, locally, nationally, and globally, through
action-oriented research, interdisciplinary training, allyship, and equitable partnerships. The DGPH
offers a vibrant and inclusive research environment attracting diverse students, staff, and faculty.McGill University, in partnership with the MasterCard Foundation, is embarking on an ambitious
collaboration with seven African organizations within the Nkabom Nutrition and Sustainable Agri-
Food Collaborative. This initiative aims to bridge education and workforce gaps by training youth in
the nutrition and agri-food sectors, especially in rural communities, to help transform Africa’s agri-
food system and empower the next generation of leaders.Strategic outcomes identified for the collaborative endeavor include the following:(i) experiential learning opportunities that promote climate-smart, traditional, and nutrition-rich
agri-food practices rooted in community-based action research and innovation;
(ii) access for young people, including young women, refugees, and internally displaced people, and
young people with disabilities, to inclusive and flexible learning opportunities across their careers;
and,
(iii) education ecosystems equipped with policies, networks, skills, leadership, and resources to
nurture youth-driven entrepreneurial ventures that address critical needs in the nutrition and agri-
food ecosystem to spur inclusive economic growth.Job Duties
The successful candidate will play an important role in building and managing the above, working
collaboratively with local and external partners. The incumbent will be expected to participate in
regular meetings at McGill University and key partner institutions. The successful candidate’s
academic duties will include developing, teaching, and leading courses in Global Public Health
Nutrition and participating in the development and support of degree programs within the partner
Ghanaian collaborating institutions.
The successful candidate’s management duties will include overseeing the implementation of the
collaborative program with universities in Ghana and related stakeholders, being responsible for
deliverables and outcomes. The successful candidate will be expected to travel to Ghana to fulfill
some of the job duties.
The successful candidate will also be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s
academic mission (i.e., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in
academic and administrative committees, if applicable).
McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the
University, and the wider scholarly community. A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity,

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Candidates must:
food security, nutritional policy, and program evaluation;
supervision experience in Global and Public Health nutrition;
acquiring it within a few years of appointment is preferred.
