The Mission, Enterprise Initiatives and Legislative Affairs Department (MELA) in the Legal Division of Freddie Mac is seeking an experienced attorney to join its fair lending and consumer protection team in addressing complex issues related to fair lending, fair housing, unfair and deceptive practices, consumer protection, multifamily housing, securitization, and applicable laws and regulations.
MELA is committed to providing quality, timely and cost-effective legal advice responsive to client needs on a variety of and corporate matters affecting Freddie Mac. This includes partnering with clients, establishing a consistent view of legal exposure across business lines, providing repeatable, measurable, and defensible processes, and improving the delivery and management of legal services. The successful candidate will be a highly organized self-starter with strong communication skills, able to balance responsibility for multiple projects on a wide range of matters simultaneously.
MELA is responsible for providing legal advice to internal clients on a wide range of issues related to Freddie Mac as a business entity, legislative, regulatory, compliance and risk management matters affecting the legal and business environment in which Freddie Mac and other financial institutions operate. We also assist our clients in navigating complex requirements applicable to government-sponsored enterprises. Other responsibilities include providing legal strategic advice to business units on submissions to and appearances before government officials and agencies.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $224,000 – $336,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
