Associate Insurance Service Representative

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT

This Associate position presents a valuable opportunity to obtain licensure, gain knowledge in property and casualty insurance, enhance your skills, and further your career within the insurance industry. As an Associate, you will engage in study and preparation for the state insurance licensing examination. Upon obtaining your license, you will collaborate with Sales Agents to support insurance policy transactions, while gaining hands-on experience in delivering exemplary service. Additionally, you will provide technical, organizational, and administrative support to the VyStar Insurance Agency, VyStar branches, and members. This role is structured to facilitate the development of essential skills needed to achieve collective objectives within the agency.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

First in Class Service

  • Learn to promptly respond to insurance inquiries and assist in resolving member and non-member concerns efficiently via telephone, text, and email communications.
  • Gain knowledge to educate and guide members and non-members by supporting branch partners with inquiries regarding policy features and benefits.
  • Assist in processing policy changes, renewals, and cancellations in a timely and accurate manner.

Sales Support

  • Aid in administering and facilitating front-end and back-end transactions to support the sale and successful issuance of insurance policies.
  • Shadow experienced team members managing both incoming and outgoing sales calls to members and non-members.
  • Help prepare quotes and enter information into agency rating systems accurately.

Retention Management

  • Learn to identify and assist in resolving cancellation issues, including underwriting and non-payment concerns.
  • Support in providing guidance to members and non-members on retention strategies when considering alternative providers.
  • Help facilitate the reinstatement or rewrite of policies by collaborating with team members on retention initiatives.

Organizational Support

  • Assist in ensuring the timely and accurate completion of required insurance forms and documents while maintaining records and data.
  • Verify information and applications against carrier guidelines as you learn to organize supporting evidence for policy transactions.
  • Participate in coordination of special projects as directed.

The Risk team serves as the second line of defense by providing risk oversight and credible challenge whereas the Audit team serves as the third line of defense by providing risk assurance.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent is required; pursuing a college degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • 0–1 year experience with multi-carrier home and auto insurance is a plus; commercial experience is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of insurance operations, terminology, and objectives.
  • Commitment to continuous education to maintain any designations/certifications and insurance-related licenses.

Preferred Knowledge

Insurance Knowledge: Begin developing knowledge of insurance processing, carrier guidelines, and new business requirements.

Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, with a willingness to learn and utilize technology effectively.

Agency Management: Gain introductory knowledge about using Agency Management Systems.

CERTIFICATIONS

Currently pursuing or holding an active State Property & Casualty license (440 Customer Representative License or 2044 Personal Lines License preferred).
