UNICEF has been working in Cameroon since 1975 to allow women and children to fully realize their rights to development without restriction, as enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. UNICEF provides financial and technical support to Cameroon across seven areas to fully realize the rights of women and children. These areas include Health, HIV/AIDS, Water-sanitation-Hygiene, nutrition, education, child protection, and social inclusion. UNICEF focuses mainly on children and the most vulnerable and excluded families. The task is immense but not insurmountable; it requires the energy of all stakeholders in Cameroon and out of Cameroon: also, women, men, youth and children, government, technical and financial partners, donors, civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians, communities. Everyone is invited to take part in the struggle to meet the challenges that lie ahead. It is together that we will act for Cameroon, a country that summarizes the challenges and hopes of Africa.

How can you make a difference? 

Under the supervision and guidance of the supervisor, CFO, the Admin & Finance Intern is responsible for executing a broad variety of procedural and administrative tasks for the administrative unit in Buea field office. Intern will perform the following tasks:

  • Supports organization of conferences and catering by making the logistical arrangements, through engaging with requesting sections, caterers and or event organizers.
  • Liaises with budget focal points and section over costs and needs.
  • Supports staff members in section for travel arrangements and entitlements based on the organization’s rules and policies.
  • Provides comparison table to obtain the best service and price for all travels.
  • Supports management of administrative supplies, office equipment, and updating inventory of items.
  • Supports end of year physical count.
  • Organizing the archiving of payment files, DCTs, liquidation FACE and ALL other accounting and financial documents.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

  • Be aged at least 18 years.
  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. degree programme or have graduated within the past two years in Business administration, Finance, Accounting, procurement area of studies; candidates with master’s degree or currently pursuing master’s degree will be given preference;
  • Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records;
  • Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills;
  • Fluency in spoken and written French or English;
  • Previous experience as a volunteer (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be desirable;
  • Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and social media);
  • Ability to coordinate with teams, support data analysis and minutes writing.
  • Have no direct family members (father, mother, brother, sister) working for UNICEF, and have no other relatives in the line of authority to which the intern will report.
