Join Astrion in Powering the Future of Space Exploration

Are you excited by the idea of powering missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond? Do you thrive in a collaborative environment where your ideas and innovations can shape the future of human spaceflight?

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Battery Reserve Project Manager/Engineer/Test to join our team.

We’re looking for passionate engineers who want to contribute to something bigger—supporting NASA’s bold vision for deep space exploration. As the largest engineering solutions provider to NASA, we work side-by-side with teams across the country, solving real challenges that impact missions and improve life here on Earth.

What You’ll Do:

Join a close-knit, high-impact team in NASA’s EP5 Power Systems Branch, where you’ll support the development, testing, and qualification of advanced battery technologies for use in the harsh environment of space.

As a Battery Reserve Project Manager/Engineer/Test, you will:

  • Lead and support battery testing initiatives, including test planning, hardware design, modeling, procurement, and test execution.
  • Work hands-on with lithium-ion battery cells and packs—screening, evaluating, and ensuring their safety and reliability in space.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of cutting-edge safety standards and testing methodologies.
  • Interface with NASA programs and industry partners to provide expert guidance and recommendations.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables, with opportunities for leadership and innovation.
  • Contribute to hardware upgrades, assembly, and delivery of Class I flight and test hardware.
  • Travel occasionally, including international trips (up to 10%).

This role blends engineering, project management, and technical leadership in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where your work directly supports NASA missions.

What You Bring:

Must-Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 2–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of battery systems, testing fixtures, and lithium-ion cell behavior and failure modes.
  • Project planning skills: developing schedules, cost estimates, risk assessments.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities; a “One NASA” team mentality.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency, and the ability to obtain a passport.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • 5–10 years’ experience or a Master’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with Creo or other CAD tools.
  • Familiarity with NASA’s hardware classification systems (Class I / III).
  • Experience presenting at technical conferences and writing Task Performance Sheets (TPS).
  • A track record of identifying innovative solutions for safety, cost, or process improvements.

Why Join Our Team?

At Oceaneering, we don’t just build things—we build the future. You’ll be part of a team that values creativity, excellence, and the pursuit of knowledge.

We offer:

  • Career growth opportunities tailored to your strengths and interests.
  • A 9/80 work schedule – enjoy every other Friday off!
  • Access to an onsite cafeteria for breakfast and lunch.
  • A workplace that values diversity, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Additional Details:

  • A U.S. government background check is required.
  • Some physical tasks may be necessary, including lifting up to 25–30 lbs.
  • Work may take place in office, lab, or test environments depending on the task.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a team-first attitude are essential.

Ready to launch your career into orbit? Join us in powering NASA’s missions and making history. Let’s build the future of space—together.
