THE ORGANIZATION
The Alliance of Bioversity International (www.bioversityinternational.org) and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) (www.ciat.cgiar.org) delivers research-based solutions that harness agricultural biodiversity and sustainably transform food systems to improve people’s lives. Alliance solutions address the global crisis of malnutrition, climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation.

The Alliance is seeking to recruit Two (2) qualified and competent Research Associates who will be field-based in (Kisumu) or based in Nairobi with frequent travel to the field (Kisumu, Kiambu, Makueni). The Research Associates will be responsible for planning, coordinating, accompanying and the roll-out of different stakeholder engagements, sustainable farming and related research activities.
Requirements
- At least BSc Degree in Agriculture, Social Science, Community Development & Gender Studies or its equivalent.
- Further related studies are an advantage.
- Additional professional training in community development, engagement approaches, and sustainable agriculture are added advantages.
- Minimum 7+ Years of experience in related field.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Asset-based community-driven development (ABCD) methods and tools.
- Inclusive community organizing.
- Participatory and gender-responsive value chain analysis and smallholder business tools.
- Agriculture extension.
- Agroecology and natural farming techniques.
- Gender-transformative approaches.
- Filed-based research ethics and methods.
Benefits
This position is a nationally recruited position based in Nairobi, Kenya. The initial contract will be for One (1) year subject to a probation period of three (3) months and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.
This position is graded at BG06, with a minimum basic salary of 168,837.00 Kenya Shillings level in a scale of BG01 to BG14 (BG14 being the highest level according to the Alliance job classification framework policy).
