$15.66 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area/Merritt Island/Mather’s Bridge. Part-time/up to 24 hours per week.This is a floater position, and the work schedule is variable, covering a variety of shifts on an as-needed basis, and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.Performs unskilled service work in the operation and minor maintenance of County drawbridges.

REQUIREMENTS:No formal education or experience is required. Experience in the operation of bridges is preferred.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to successfullypass, within thirty (30) days of employment, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) bridge operation test. Must successfully pass, within twelve (12) months of employment, the United States Coast Guard (USCG) bridge operation test. Applicants must have some knowledge of the operation of two-way radios; the ability to learn, understand, and apply Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and United States Coast Guard (USCG) standards governing the operation of swing bridges; and the ability to maintain daily logs, records, and reports. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
