Location: London Broadcasting House. This is a hybrid role and successful candidate will be required to work in the office 2-3 days per week.

Working in the newly created Production and Business Management Team, the primary objective of the Business Coordinator role is to support the business and its key stakeholders in delivering world-beating journalism 24/7/365. 

The new Business Coordinator will work with the Business Advisor and Team Assistant to provide support to the wider News Business, Operations and Change department, in particular working closely with the International Operations and News Distribution teams.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to a Business Advisor, the Business Coordinator will partner closely with a number of team leaders across a large portfolio to support their teams on key business management activities, including:

  • Carry out delegated business administrative tasks including managing onboarding and offboarding (staff and freelance), raising purchase orders, IT requests, freelance bookings, organizing equipment hire and other tasks as required.
  • Supporting the monitoring of allocated headcount and production budget, through providing analytics reports and tracking outputs (e.g. cost trackers etc.)
  • Providing programme areas with logistical support and issuing relevant paperwork where appropriate
  • Collating, analysing and reporting on specific Management Information (MI) for the business
  • Provide general guidance and advice to support policy compliance working with divisional specialists and the wider Production and Business Management community as required.
  • Support the business with the delivery of strategic projects and other ad-hoc activities as necessary.
  • Keep track of international crew contracts such as renewal dates and overarching T&Cs and editorial compliance forms.
  • Assist with bureau leases research work, completion of data sheets, as well as updating the compliance risk register document.
  • Working with bureau managers to ensure that business plans for all international bureaus are updated on a regular basis.
  • Helping teams with their Sustainability Action Plan and looking at ways to reduce carbon footprint.

Are You The Right Candidate?

  • Demonstrable experience of providing administrative support to a large portfolio in News, with good working knowledge of end-to-end multi-platform production.
  • Highly organised with a flexible and proactive approach and an ability to work with limited supervision and to co-ordinate a busy workload with conflicting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and practical experience of gathering, analysing and collating complex and confidential information.
  • Ability to handle and analyse large amounts of data to produce data reports in a range of formats, ensuring deadlines are met and information provided is complete, accurate and timely.
  • Strong IT skills with solid experience of office software packages (i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and preferably extensive experience of using BBC tools and systems including SAP, BBC Identity, Quick Order, Excel, admin codes.
  • Experience in building and maintaining constructive working relationships with individuals across a range of teams and professional support functions.
  • Flexible can-do approach and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to target the content to the audience.
