The Regulatory Delivery and Enterprise Data Management Office (EDMO) team establishes the data management standards and capabilities for all of TD, designs and implements data management tooling capabilities, monitors and reports on the adoption and consistent implementation of data management across TD Business Segments and Corporate Functions to ensure compliance to evolving regulations.

The Enterprise Data Management Office (EDMO) is seeking a Business Information Management Specialist that will be responsible for overseeing the legal holds process and ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and corporate policies regarding data and information management. This role will play a critical part in managing legal risks associated with data retention, preservation, and governance, working closely with legal, compliance, IT, and business teams to ensure effective information lifecycle management.

Job Requirements:

  • Manage and execute the legal hold process , ensuring that data and documents are properly preserved in response to litigation, investigations, or regulatory inquiries.

  • Act as a liaison between Legal, IT, Compliance, and the Business to facilitate efficient legal hold implementation and tracking.

  • Oversee the identification, collection, and preservation of information in compliance with eDiscovery best practices.

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with legal hold notices , ensuring stakeholders understand their obligations.

  • Maintain and enhance Data Management Systems to ensure accurate reporting and defensibility in legal proceedings.

  • Understand data governance policies related to information retention, archiving, and disposal to mitigate legal and regulatory risks.

  • Ensure the business understands compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry standards for handling and retaining data.

  • Provide guidance on data retention schedules , ensuring they align with legal requirements and business needs.

  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and IT teams to ensure alignment on information governance strategies.

  • Serve as the primary contact for legal hold inquiries and data governance-related questions from relevant stakeholders.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information/Data Management or a related field .

  • 3+ years of experience in legal holds, eDiscovery, information governance, and/or data risk management within a corporate, legal, or compliance environment.

  • Familiarity with records management, data retention policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, SEC, FINRA).

  • Experience or knowledge of legal hold or matter management software , such as Atlas and Exterro.

  • Experience or knowledge of retention schedule & policy management software , such as Iron Mountain and Filerskeepers.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks governing data and information management.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to assess and mitigate risks.

  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills .

  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
