The Regulatory Delivery and Enterprise Data Management Office (EDMO) team establishes the data management standards and capabilities for all of TD, designs and implements data management tooling capabilities, monitors and reports on the adoption and consistent implementation of data management across TD Business Segments and Corporate Functions to ensure compliance to evolving regulations.
The Enterprise Data Management Office (EDMO) is seeking a Business Information Management Specialist that will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enforcing the Enterprise Record Retention Schedule . This role will ensure compliance with corporate policies, legal and regulatory requirements, and industry best practices related to records and information lifecycle management.
Job Requirements:
Maintain, update, and enforce the enterprise record retention schedule to align with evolving regulatory, legal, and business requirements.
Collaborate with stakeholders across Legal, Privacy, Compliance, and other business functions to ensure retention policies are relevant and adhered to.
Provide subject matter expertise to data stakeholders as it relates to the appropriate use of retention codes and policies.
Provide guidance and oversight on the classification, storage, and management of corporate records and data assets.
Ensure compliance with records management policies across all business units, including digital and physical records.
Understand Data Retention and Disposition (DRD) processes , proper handling, archival, and deletion of data in accordance with policy.
Ensure the business understands compliance obligations with privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, Law 25) by properly managing personal and sensitive data retention timelines.
Identify and mitigate risks associated with improper records management and data retention practices .
Support the integration of records retention policies with broader data and information governance frameworks .
Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, IT and Lines of Businesses to ensure alignment and adherence to records policies.
Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for records retention and disposition, offering guidance to business teams and leadership.
Experience and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information/Data Management or a related field .
3+ years of experience in records management, data retention, information governance, or compliance within a corporate, legal, or regulatory setting.
Experience working with records retention schedules, enterprise content management (ECM) systems, and data governance frameworks .
Familiarity with privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry-specific data retention laws .
Familiarity with records management, data retention policies, regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, SEC, FINRA) and industry-specific data retention laws.
Experience or knowledge of retention schedule & policy management software , such as Iron Mountain and Filerskeepers.
Experience or knowledge of legal hold management software , such as Atlas and Exterro.
Key Competencies:
Strong understanding of legal and regulatory requirements for records retention and data governance.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills , with the ability to assess and mitigate data-related risks.
Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills , working across Legal, IT, Compliance, and business teams.
Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
