JOB SUMMARY: CARE is seeking savvy, entrepreneurial leader, who can grow and represent CARE’s resiliency work to creatively reach millions of people around the world. Candidates must have resiliency expertise and credibility, proven experience in building and growing innovative programs, and strong relationships with networks and key stakeholders who work to address resiliency globally and in the United States. The successful candidate must possess an understanding of the role that nonprofits and civil society networks play in responding to and mitigating impact. There is increasing understanding that single breakthrough endeavors will not work. We need to drive partnerships with ecosystem actors and local implementers. CARE is poised to be a platform and partner who can deliver scale through local implementers. We believe the answers lie in more local solutions, supporting adaptation and adopting an innovative strategy that focuses on identifying and scaling Global South solutions. Additionally, high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporations, are looking for innovative resilience solutions. Funding largely exists and donor interest is high, yet competition for these dollars is also increasing. It is abundantly clear that resiliency is a problem, and CARE seeks to: 1) Scale our successful work and build new approaches for people to face the resilience challenges in their lives, and; 2) Build on our global networks of communities, innovators, policymakers, and the private sector to build new solutions for everyone. The Associate Vice President, Resilient Futures is housed within PSI – Program Strategy & Innovation team. The successful candidate will report to the Vice President, PSI, and have leadership and oversight of the Resilient Futures team and collaborate with all relevant technical teams, fundraising teams, and country offices. RESPONSIBILITIES: Advance Technical and Thought Leadership Advance technical and thought leadership at the nexus of resiliency and gender, health, and education – focusing on innovations and scalable external social entrepreneurship solutions through: Leadership and oversight: management of the Resilience Futures team (Sr. Director and Sr. Technical Advisor) within Program Strategy and Innovation (PSI). External representation: expand CARE’s presence in networks and spaces such as global platforms, and key events. Thought leadership: bring credibility, a track record of success, and expertise to seamlessly represent CARE as a key leader in external spaces. Foster collaboration and cross-cutting thinking across CARE’s teams and external stakeholders. Partnerships: build and strengthen partnerships and relations with networks and key stakeholders to scale impact. Design a Resilience Growth Strategy for CARE Design a Resilient Futures strategy for CARE in partnership with relevant PSI Technical Teams, Resource Mobilization Teams, Executive Office, and relevant Country Offices. Work with the Resilient Futures team and the portfolio designer to identify core innovations and solutions Develop new content and products based on game-changing ideas/solutions. In collaboration with the Resilient Futures team and experts, identify core areas to grow evidence, and data on impact on CARE’s work, i.e., next generation of innovations and models, adapting and building existing models. Support Resource Mobilization Support Resource Mobilization colleagues in rapid pitching of fundraising products with winning themes. In collaboration with Resource Development teams, productize key solutions, innovations, and partnerships to align with the priorities of key donors and partners per different channels including, but not limited to private sector, foundations, and high net worth individuals. Build on CARE’s existing program solutions and models, opportunities, and ideas for innovations, to showcase why CARE is a good investment for donors in this space. Partner with CARE’s various teams to develop and prepare donor presentations and direct proposals and participate in donor engagements as a critical leader and innovator. Engage closely with project designers and country office / regional management unit colleagues to identify areas of opportunity for innovations, and strategic growth in areas CARE does not have a presence. QUALIFICATIONS: Degree or advanced education in relevant field. At least 15 years of experience in an external-facing Resilience roles with verifiable results. Proven ability and track record of influence, including relevant publications, conferences, media appearances, etc. Expertise and technical credibility in Resiliency spaces and networks. Ability to build and act in networks of experts and philanthropists. Deep respect for collaboration across different actors, particularly locally led organizations. Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of funding from a technical perspective and in areas such as future resilient responses including adaptation action (locally led adaptation, anticipatory action, scenario planning) clean energy, devolved finance, information services, payment for services, etc. Demonstrable success building relations with high-level donors and networks. Acute understanding of relative women, girls, and family issues. Learning and adaptation mindset. Advanced editorial and writing skills for donor audiences. Advanced and confident oral presentation and public speaking skills. Experience of collaborating with partners in the Global South. Knowledge of the US markets.
